Today is Family Literacy Day!

Do you read with your kids?
Honestly I don't read to them as much as I should. It has been a goal of mine to sit with the boys and read more, life always get's in the way.
Today I was suppose to go to a Literacy Day celebration at Ham's school. His bus was cancelled so he is staying home today (he is not happy about it!). I was planning on taking a collection of Curious George stories to read to him and his class. He was quite upset to be missing out, but I promised to read some stories to him here at home.

What better way to celebrate Family Literacy Day than with a giveaway!
This giveaway is from the Home Education Resource Emporium. You can find lots of great used books on there to enjoy with your kiddos. All you have to do is enter with the Rafflecopter form below!

We read every day, but we could always read more!

Words are all around us - reading even counts if you look at a sign on the way to the bus and read it out together or talk about what letter it starts with ;)

We read before bed but it's really not as much as we should. My daughter is reading at school and when she gets home she doesn't show much interest in reading more. I'm a bit unsure what to do about this. Should I push and risk making her dislike it or should I leave it alone?

I totally believe that reading is the most important part of learning. It creates interests in many different areas of the world and so creates interest in learning in general. A great way to escape and learn. Happy literacy day!

Happy Family Literacy Day! Yes, to be honest, we read A LOT to Little One. She looooooves books. She loves them more than her toys. This makes me happy, as an English teacher! :)

We went to Family Literacy events today and she had a blast! Glad she enjoys it. She just turned 3 a few months ago. I hope her love of books is always with her. Even when she gets older!

Reading with the kids is something we make a priority, it helps so much and I have seen such a difference in school. We are always getting compliments from the teachers at how well read and spoken the kids are, it comes from reading a lot. I can't wait till they get to the age of reading classics.
